Parent Information Night: Planning for Course Registration
January 29th, 6:30–8pm, Theater

SHS Counselors will discuss various course scheduling opportunities with sophomore and junior parents to make sure students are getting where they need to be on their road to graduation and beyond. This is timed right before class registration in early February.

Freshman Open House-February 5th at Skyline, 6–8:30pm

A “Welcome Sophomore Spartans” night is scheduled for Feb 5.  The night is designed for those families who will be coming to Skyline in the fall of 2008 to help them become acquainted with Skyline and their variety of opportunities.

Parent Seminar: “Addiction: The Silent Epidemic Targeting Our Youth”

The SHS PTSA has partnered with the SAMA Foundation to host a seminar and panel discussion on Thursday, March 6th, 7–8:30pm at the Pine Lake Covenant Church. Panel will be made up of experts, Skyline and other parents and students.

SAT/ACT Mock Tests and SAT Prep Course Offered by the PTSA

SAT Prep Course

A SAT Preparation course will be offered at Skyline this spring, offering one class per week on Wednesdays, 5:45 to 8:30 p.m., March 19, 26, April 2, 16, 23, 30. The course fee of $272 includes a mock SAT test to be held Saturday, March 15, 7:30am to 12:30pm.

Mock SAT Test for Practice

A mock SAT test is administered by SAT Prep, Inc., the same company that is running the SAT preparation course. The mock SAT test will be held Saturday, March 15, 7:30 am to 12:30 pm. The deadline for registration is Friday, March 7. Registration forms are available on the school website www.shs.issaquah.wednet.edu under “Daily News” – Mock SAT Test Registration.

The cost of the practice test is $35 for students who are not enrolled in the SAT Preparation course.

Mock ACT Test for Practice

A mock ACT test will be held Saturday, March 8, 8am-noon, at Skyline. The deadline for registration is Friday, February 29. Registration forms are available on the school website www.shs.issaquah.wednet.edu under “Daily News” – Mock ACT Test Registration.

The cost of the practice test is $30. Students will receive a detailed report of their results through the mail.

Reflections Program District-Level Winners Announced

Reflections entries of eight Skyline students have been selected to move on to the state level for judging! All Issaquah District winners were recognized at a reception on January 10. Congratulations to all!

Do You Know an Outstanding Volunteer? Golden Acorn Nominations Sought

Do you know someone who deserves recognition for devoting themselves to our students? Nominations are now being sought for this year’s PTSA Golden Acorn Award.

The Golden Acorn Award is given annually to individuals who have given exemplary volunteer service to children and youth in our school community. Award winners receive the Golden Acorn Award pin and a special certificate from the Washington State PTA. The Council also contributes $55 in the winner’s name to the Washington State PTA Scholarship Foundation, which provides scholarships to selected high school students entering post-secondary education.

Please help us select volunteers from our community to receive a Golden Acorn Award this year by completing the “Golden Acorn Nomination Form.” The Golden Acorn Committee will make the final selections from the recommendations.

PTSA Community Service Scholarships

Skyline PTSA will award six-$500 scholarships to graduating seniors planning on attending voc-tech, community or four-year colleges. Applications will be available February 6th in the Career Center.
