News from Sammamish Public Library

There will be a Story Slam at the library on Wednesday, April 23rd, from 6:30-9pm.  Kids ages 6-17 will have five minutes to present their song, poem or story.  They may drop off their work at the library starting April 1, labeled “Story Slam attention Cindy”, or between 6:30 and 7pm the night of the program.  Thirty finalists from around King County will compete in

May to have their work produced at the Moore Theatre in Seattle.  All work must be original.

 

Our Study Zone will have two tutors, at least one of which is strong in math, every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 4-6pm, starting next week.  Business-card-sized summaries of Study Zone available on request.

Log on to www.kcls.org

Select “Databases” from the top of the page, then select “History and Culture” from the database subject list.  Select “America the Beautiful.”  Search options include: Find It Fast, Advanced Search, U.S. Topics, Timelines, Profiles, Almanac, States, Dictionaries, and Atlas.  The database also includes a collection of puzzles and learning games about the U.S.

There is also a link to Teacher Resources from most pages, which includes news articles, class activities and teaching tips.
