Career Center
Students: We have had two additional colleges schedule visits to Skyline High School. On Monday, November 23, Whitworth University will visit Skyline during first lunch. On December 3, a rep from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandizing will be here to meet with students during second lunch. If you are interested in attending either of these visits, please sign up in the Career Center ASAP!
Need money for college? If so, plan to attend the Career Center presentation “ Scholarship and Financial Aid Night” on Thursday, December 3 starting at 7 pm in Room 102. Don’t miss this important opportunity to learn from college financial aid officers the ways you can help to finance your college education!
Are you a junior with interest in science, technology, engineering or math? If so there is a great educational program, sponsored by the Washington Aerospace Scholars Foundation and the Museum of Flight for you to consider. This all expense paid competitive program for high school juniors consists of a summer residency program and distance learning experience. Participants design a human mission to Mars, take field trips to engineering facilities and are guided by professional engineers, scientists, university students and certified educators as they plan these missions. Washington Aerospace Scholars began accepting applications in early September with a November 6, 2009 deadline. WAS participants must be high school juniors with 3.0 minimum grade-point-averages, United States citizens and Washington State residents. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity! Stop into the Career Center to pick up an application, or apply online at www.museumofflight.org/washingtonaerospacescholars.
Do you think about flying in your future? If you do, this announcement is for you. The Museum of Flight has two apprentice programs, The Museum Apprentice Program where you are trained to become a volunteer at the museum, and the Washington Aerospace Scholars Program. Check out the Career Center website or go to the Career Center for more information.
