Important Messages:

November 16, 2009

I am back from Reno from the DECA trip. I have only been gone for four days, but I feel so behind! We have A LOT going on this weekend, especially for Green who will be taping their Nationals Bid Video over the weekend!

Green:

This is going to be a very busy week with only Wednesday off. I really need everyone giving 110% this week for yourself, your teammates and the video so that we can reach our goals. I know we are going to have a break through week. Remember last year we did not compete until January 9th and we didn’t have half the skills we do this year. This year, essentially we are competing this weekend, because that is what the video is. I am proud of how far we have come. This week will be long and hard, but you will feel accomplished after we finish.

This Week’s Game:

The playoffs are here so that means a variety of different times and game situations. This week we will be playing Saturday, November 14th at Mt. Tahoma High School (Tacoma) vs. South Kitsap High School at 7pm. Team dinner is at 4:30 (squad 2 is responsible) and the bus is at 5. Snacks are squad 7 – bring just enough for our team because we are the visitors but schools outside of KINGCO don’t do snacks, so I want to make sure the cheerleaders have something to eat at halftime.  Wear your skirt, fleece, bow and poof, bring your warm-ups, puffies, and gloves. If not everyone has gloves this week, we will not wear them. We are not dressing up to school on Friday because football is not.

I will be in Reno for the DECA Western Region Conference. I leave Thursday morning and do not return until Sunday, so Kasey is responsible for this game. If you have any questions, please direct them to her while I am gone.

October 28, 2009

Man, it sure has been a couple of wet weeks and that forecast doesn’t look great for tomorrow either! We can’t catch a break. Because of the horrible weather we have been experiencing, I have gone to the cheer closet and gotten out the White Puffies. If you don’t know what a White Puffy is, they are white jackets with hoods that are pretty warm, but make people look like marshmallows. The girls, however, love them. I wore one at the game last week. If it does rain hard though, they do soak through but the hood helps. I will be passing these out at dinner on Friday. Each cheerleader will need to wash them after wearing them and hang them to dry and bring them to Monday tumbling.

Tomorrow (Thursday):

To School – Skirt and Creating a Legacy Shirt

Treats for Football – You pick

Dinner 5:00pm

Bus Leaves at 5:30pm

Game Wear:

Warm-up pants (maybe put thermal on under)

Any long sleeved warm shirt you have (no hooded sweatshirts) so you can be more comfortable under your fleece

Fleece on top of that, warm-up jacket on top of that

White Puffies will be passed out at dinner and worn when we get to Bothell if needed

Hair and star same as always

Silver – I think Cassie and Jessie sent out a text, but I am meeting you at 4:30 in the commons so I can get your cheer fixed so that you can practice it on Friday with Kasey.

Friday:

Green 2:30-4:30

Silver 6-7:30

Forms:

Tomorrow at dinner I will be handing out all the forms for competitions for this season. This includes all the parent permission forms, release forms, and driver forms. There are directions on the packet. These need to be filled out and returned to either me or Kasey by Tuesday, November 3rd. I will also be going over the winter schedule and giving each cheerleader a hard copy of that schedule. It is on the website too.

Cheer Accounts with the Bookkeeper:

Barb and I have worked really hard to get the cheer accounts up to date. She will be sending home next week a statement to each family of their current balance. This includes all uniform fees, optional sweats (cheerleaders and parents), camp, choreography, music, tumbling June-Nov, competitions except nationals and then subtracts what you have already paid, the money you fundraised from box sales, and the money fundraised from entertainment coupon books. The only thing that is not on there is Green Nationals, Tumbling Dec –Feb, extra shoes (girls can order a second pair if they want them on Friday) and the banquet.

Remember for the coupon books, you have until March to sell them. You have to sell 12 to break even. If you sell all 40 you make a profit of $280 people. Some cheerleaders have already sold most of theirs. Think about selling at community events, the Holiday Bizarre, church events, etc.

Green UCA Nationals:

Check email from today for the attached is the Nationals plan that was sent to the Superintendent this week and has been approved by Ms. Hechtman. It includes a basic itinerary with flight numbers and times and costs. Once I have more concrete details, we will have a parent meeting. I still don’t know if parents can take their own kids on the 15th and stay for vacation. I will try to have an answer to that by Friday.

Schedule November through February:

The winter schedule is on the website. This is the first version so there could be some minor tweaks. Please look at all the games – Silver has weeknight basketball and swimming, Green has Friday night double header basketball, Wrestling, and Gymnastics. We do not do any away games until the basketball playoffs start and that will be a mix of Green and Silver. I will be going over the schedule in detail on Friday. Please also note that the possible football playoff days are on there and dinners and snacks have been assigned. Also, during the week before a competition, we generally have extra practices, so please look that over carefully.

Football Playoffs:

This week is our last regular season football game of the year. We will play next Thursday, the 29th at Bothell High School at 7:00pm. Cassie’s squad has dinner for this week because we skipped their teams dinner when we went to Rancho Grande. Dinner needs to be at 5 because the bus leaves at 5:30. (Side Note – Green and Silver do have practice on Friday the 30th since we don’t have a game). If we win, we have three home playoff games, if we lose, we have one home playoff game and two away games, after those three are the two games at the Tacoma Dome, with the State Championship being most likely Friday, December 4th. With playoffs, I won’t know where or who we are playing until the week before. Playoff games can be on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday and I won’t know what is happening until we win each game. So please be flexible during this time.

This Week:

Please wear Picture T-Shirts and skirts to school

Full uniform for game including unifit

Bring warm-ups, fleece, and gloves to game

Dinner @ 5 (Kelsey C’s squad)

Bus @ 5:30

Game @ 7
