VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES as of 5/16/11 FUN, FUN, FUN: MOUNTAINS TO SOUND GREENWAY: Opportunity for students to hike, bike, and explore the Greenway for nine days this summer, as a part of our 20th Anniversary celebrations. The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust started with a hike, from the Cascade Crest to Puget Sound. Twenty years later, we’re doing it again! We are seeking applications specifically for the Youth Teams, two teams of ten to fifteen students who will travel together with team leaders and the rest of the hikers. The adventure will begin in Ellensburg; we’ll bike for three days on the east side of the Cascades, and then hike our way further west to the Seattle waterfront. Youth will learn about natural history, stewardship, history, and much more from team leaders and their fellow hikers, many of whom have had an enormous impact on the greater Seattle area over the past two decades. We are really glad to be able to host so many young people on the 20th anniversary march – we think it’s a step toward passing our conservation ethic on to the next generation of leaders.
